“Is (s)he still breathing?” you ask, watching the chest rise and fall, and this you take as a sign of life. It is a sign that the physical body is functioning, indeed—that the Life Force continues to animate the body—but the Life Force continues with or without the body.
What is life, but awareness … Consciousness. This awareness is expressed through the body, but it is not tied or confined to it. The greatest expression of this Force is love, which is why Love is the greatest motivating force in existence.
Check for the breathing if you will, but know that Life goes on eternally before and after the breath.
