A parent wishes to hold onto its child.  “But I need you!” the parent thinks.  “How can you leave me?”  And then the child leaves.  Did it abandon the parent?  Not at all.
Each has a role to play.  If the
child does not go out into the world on its own, it will stagnate.  It is understandable why one would want to
hold onto things perceived as good and things which are perceived as sources of
love, but love is limitless.  Be aware of
when you cling to a thing.  What is this
telling you?  Can you release it and
still feel loved?  You are loved
always.  That never goes away.  Give love freely and you will never feel
abandoned.
