You are not growing unless you are shaken up a bit.  Why?
Because it is far too easy for you to fall into torpor—a somnambulant state
in which you glide through life on automatic, reacting robotically to your
programmed beliefs.  If something did not
come along and stir your emotions, you would continue dozing.  But, oh!
Suddenly there is anger, or fear, or worry, or some kind of pain, and
these are uncomfortable.  They make you
sit up and take notice.  You then must
make a choice to get you back to your feeling of alleged comfort.  But were you truly comfortable before or
simply numb?

Embrace the discomfort for what is has to teach you.  Face it squarely and decide whether you wish
to continue experiencing this feeling.
In so doing, you have reclaimed your divine power.  Clean out the gunk bit by bit and you will no
longer be in a stupor, but stupendously alive.
