“Flattery will get you anywhere,” you say, and that is not exactly so. Flattery can take you most often directly to the head where ego wants you. Puffed up by flattery, you will remain in the illusion of your separation from others. There is nothing wrong with flattery. It is a gift you can bestow upon another, but be cautious when you are the recipient of that gift, that it does not take you away from your inner awareness that none is more special than another. How to remember this? Receive flattery with gratitude … not gratitude for how unique you are, but gratitude for the connection you all share, that you can give and receive the love that binds you. Flattery will get you anywhere, but gratitude will get you straight to the heart, where all are joined as one.
