Giving, giving, giving. Why do you do it? At times because your heart so overflows that you want to share that flow with others. At times because you want something in return. Two sides of a coin again, is it not? Do you give to hold another in bondage to you, to express your love, or both? It comes down to motive, whether or not your gift becomes a gift to you in return. If you truly know that you are loved, then you will give a gift directly from the heart with no ulterior motive and no need for acknowledgement. Do not misunderstand us: there is nothing “wrong” in either reason. All is neutral until you give it meaning. By giving a thing or action meaning, it then becomes a learning point for you. If you feel you must “give ‘til it hurts,” perhaps there is a lesson there for you.
