When you catch yourself praying beseechingly, almost begging for favors from God, notice this is but one viewpoint.  This is the “bottom-up” view of you as a separate, powerless being in need of help.  It is a valid viewpoint and every bit as real as any other, but it is also the most needy and the one most prone to suffering.  If there is a bottom-up view, then there is also a top-down view.  This alternate view would still include “you” as you know yourself in your role, but it would be far more whole.  Now, having shifted from the bottom to the top, you remember that you are an expression of the Whole that includes all others and all that is.  You are not so alone from this perspective.  Now, instead of beseeching, you affirm.  Which feels better?  Which brings you more peace?  Settle into the center, the heart, and integrate the many viewpoints you can choose with your free will.  As above, so below.  You are free.
