Ego is a funny
fellow.  He wants to have his way.  He wants you to pay attention only to
him.  “Forget those others,” he
says.  “i am all that matters.”  Never forget that the “i” of ego is a
diminished “i.”  The true I AM knows no
separation from any other.

How to recognize ego at
work?  Where there is pain, there is
ego.  Where there is anger and
impatience, there is ego.  Where there is
anything less than peace and love, there is ego.  Most especially, where there is the desire to
extend pain, anger, or anything less than love to another there is ego.
How to banish ego?  Repeat after us:  “I am here to see the Go(o)d in all.  I am here to be the presence of Love.”  Be cautious as you repeat these words, for
ego will balk.  Try to project anger
whilst truly feeling these words, and you will see that ego will lose his grip
for a while.  Notice those last three
words, “for a while.”  The art of being
human is finding the delicate balance between the spirit and the human, for you
are, of course, here to enjoy being human.
Tussling with ego is part of the experience.
