The question is asked: “Do you care more about that other person in your life than you do about yourself?” as if this is a test of your spirituality.  And we say, it is not a matter of loving one more than another.  Ego, or caring about the self, is not a “bad” thing.  Bad or good, more or less, are human concepts.  It is a matter of loving.  It is a matter of seeing through the eyes as the One which sees through all eyes.  When you can come to see with these eyes, then you see through the illusion that there is an other and a self.  There is, at the deepest level, only the Self.  At a human level, it is normal to love one more than another, and quite often to put the self above all others.  The greatest Joy comes when you discover that you can shift your point of view to seeing with the eyes of the soul and not loving more than or less than, but simply LOVING.  Oh my.  How will you treat everyone and yourself from this point of view?

You are so very loved.
