(Note from Suzanne: I checked the news just before meditating this morning and learned of yet another theater shooting. I thought I had put this out of my mind as I began meditating, but Sanaya raised the issue)
Bullets rain around you. Is nowhere safe? Do you think we are unaware of the condition of your society? How has it gotten this way? Look at the entertainment you and your children are subjected to. There is a belief system that killing and mayhem is acceptable. And so it is … in the minds of many. How long will you allow mass killing in your movies and be surprised at mass killing in your movie theaters? How can you expect humans not to imitate what they see in the little boxes, be that a television, a computer, or a telephone? Yes, we did recently speak of technology as a tool, but these are only instruments that display what they are programmed to display. Who does the programming? You may not write the script, but do you watch it? You are programming each other by allowing killing as entertainment.
There is no judgment in our message today. We only wish to bring awareness. You are all connected. It is one big web. Do not place the blame outside of yourselves. Are you helpless to do anything about it? What you give out, you get back.
