stillWaterYou speak of a “flood” of emotions, and it is an apt analogy, for emotions seem to course through you and can at times almost knock you off your feet.  But like flood waters, once they wash through you, they recede.  Stand firmly in your awareness that you are not your emotions.  You are not angry.  You are not lonely.  You are not even happy or sad.  You are peace, which is not an emotion at all, but a state of being.  It is the ground of your being, as is love.  Emotions are add-ons, as we said:  like flood waters that rise up and recede.  As they threaten to overwhelm you, state to yourself, “This too shall pass,” and stand in that state of knowing … peace.
