Do you feel the tension rising?  It is in the air.  What does that mean?  Tension is not a physical thing, yet you feel it in your physical body.  Tension is an experience.  Your thoughts are an experience.  Everything you perceive is simply that:  experience.  Now you get to choose:  What experience do you wish to have?  Through your choices you can control your peace or the tension by choosing thoughts which lead to the desired experience.  You have far more control than you think when you rise above the conditioning and observe it.
