“Clinging” is an interesting word.  It comes laden with the emotion of its twin feeling:  fear. You would not cling to a thing if you did not fear losing something.  Think of a person lost at sea clinging to a raft.  They fear losing their life.  That is ultimately the fear behind all fears if you follow them to their roots.  Now ask yourself why you cling to certain stories about yourself?  We could expound upon the answer, but you need only rekindle the vision of the raft.  You can let go now.  The real you is not going anywhere.
