Why does gossip feel so good?  It is one of ego’s greatest ploys.  Talking in scintillating terms about another takes the attention off of your own faults.  Ego wishes you to think you never do anything gossip-worthy.  Ego wishes you to feel separate from others.  If you were to keep in mind the phrase, “There but for the grace of God go I,” you would realize that all of you in human form have the potential to do gossip-worthy things.  All of you in human form err.  By sharing others’ errors, you step right into the drama.  There is no need to pay for a movie when you can create the same dramatic emotions simply by talking about your fellow actors.  Recognize what is at play here and see each of your selves with compassion.  At another, deeper level, there is only one of you trying on different costumes.
