Why do anything at all?  Why get out of bed?  These are not rhetorical questions, but the
most important questions you can ask yourself.
Stop before doing anything and ask in each moment, “What is my motive in
doing this task?”  If it is to build up
your sense of separation from others (the goal of ego), please realize that
this may be a habitual thought pattern that can be broken if you are interested
in your soul’s growth.

So, what is a motive worth
acting upon?  Any, if it leads to soul
growth, but the optimal motive is simply, “for the experience of it … to be
love and to love.”  Do you see how simple
it is?  But this takes awareness rather
than sleepwalking through life.  If you
are going to get out of bed, you might as well choose wisely.
