Do you have rituals … patterns of thoughts and behaviors you believe you must do before doing something important?  Rituals are useful.  They are stepping stones to help you get step by step with focus to your intended goal.  Are they necessary?  They are if you believe they are.  When you let go of the fear and you have experienced the goal successfully enough times, you will find the rituals are, as we say, good tools and can be useful, but they are not necessary.  Roll on, finding that perfect place of balance, and you will know when you are ready to take off the training wheels.
