An octopus has eight arms.  Are there not times when you say, “I wish I had more hands?”  And what would you do with them?  Do you not have enough to do as it is?  How long or how often do you sit still and simply practice being?  More arms will not bring you what you seek in all of your doing.  What is it that you seek?  More happiness.  More love.  This is what all humans seek.  It is at the root of all desires.  You seek less suffering, relief from your grief or pain?  It is the same thing.  You seek that which is already yours for the taking.  Beneath the layers of wanting and hating and dissatisfaction lies the peace.  Beneath all the beliefs and thoughts which cause you to toss and turn lies the happiness, if you would only pull back from all the doing and see it has been there all along.  You do not need more hands.  You need fewer.  When you realize the hands are part of the story and the real you is beyond the story, then you will stop rushing and doing, or better yet, then you will be content whether doing or not, whether rushing or not.  That “then” can be now, when you “get” it in an instant.  Happiness is here and now at a different level.  Merge the two levels and be at peace.
