“Just be yourself.” How often
have you heard this? It is good advice
when it refers to not thinking that you must act a certain way to get attention
or to be liked. You need not dress a
certain way or say cute phrases. Just be
yourself. We are not speaking now of the
one who has taken on a name. John, Mary,
Joseph, and Annie, or whatever label was given to you at birth are roles you
have all taken on. Being yourself means
stripping away the labels, the clothes, the language, and the behaviors. “Why, then I would be naked!” you cry. “Exposed!”
And you are right.
Expose yourself: a beautiful
child of God, pure and clean. You are
that now. Oh! Do you see how the guilt rears up for all
past human transgressions? There is not
one among you in human form who does not have them. But know that there is not one among you who
is also not a pure spirit-being. You are
both at once while in this incarnation.
Which self do you choose to be right now? The one who feels he or she needs to impress
others to be loved, or the one who is Love?
