When you are aware that you are in this world but not of it,
you have greater freedom.  You become
aware of your ability to choose what role you will assume from moment to
moment, for that is what you are doing, you know:  playing a role.  And so, you choose to be upset when others
around you are upset, for that is the human role.  Inside you know that all is temporary and
this too shall pass.  Perhaps there will
come a time when you tire of the feeling of being upset.  You decide to change the script.  Ah, how liberating!

Do you see how you can apply this concept to every
experience that is less than positive and loving to the self and others?  Examine the many roles you play and just how
often you go along with the other actors out of habit or ignorance, which is
synonymous with “un-awareness.” Become aware and choose.  Will you conform or not?
