You think that you must try ever harder to “get somewhere,”
be that spiritual enlightenment, material success, or whatever your goal.  This is the great paradox.  It is only when you cease striving that you
get exactly what the soul is seeking underneath all of the striving:  peace.
In the peace you are able to enjoy love and compassion for the self and
others.  The longing for this is at the
root of all human striving.  So, you see,
when you release all external desires, what you sought through those desires is
yours anyway.  It was and is always
there.  So, now you can relax.  Do you get it?  You are there already.
