Prepare for the holidays. Is this not what you do? You get out your boxes of decorations. You go shopping. You plan. Is there not great joy in tradition? Be sure to create new traditions as you go through well-worn motions. Traditions are well and good, but life is dynamic. People you love may have moved on to the next level of eternity, causing rifts in the traditional way of being and acting this holiday season. Create new ways of celebrating them, for they are most certainly still part of your celebrations, with you, watching, and wanting you to know they, like all that is, are as close as your breath.

These are going to be my first holidays without my dad. I’ll only be with my boyfriend, who never got to meet him. We plan to set up a place for my dad with his Christmas hat that he always used to wear, honoring him and knowing that he’s with us. Thank you, Suzanne. This message is so fitting and your chosen picture significant. It reminds me of a picture I chose to accompany a poem I had written years ago. This, my first holiday season without my husband, is a weighty time. Weighty due to the manner he died. But as I know, his spirit continues and I’m being constantly ‘message bombed’ by him! lol I couldn’t go forward without his reminders, presence.
