Safety. This is what you seek when you reach for substances to numb the feelings. Food, drugs, liquor and the like . . . You may believe they “take the edge off.” Yes, but the edge of what? Feelings that bring tension. Tension is the way of it when in a human body. The soul feels no tension. You are both human and a soul. When reaching for something to help you feel better, you are seeking to lessen the tension. There is a feeling of safety in this.
The soul is safe and whole. Find the balance. Find your center. Here, right here within you there is no tension at this balance point. Sit in the stillness each day, if only for a few minutes and most especially as needed. Experience this stillness so that it becomes the ever-present companion that it is. And then, when the desire to numb the tension rather than dissolving into stillness threatens to overcome you, find the now-familiar true safety within.
You are so very loved.
Something that may facilitate a more easeful way of being is Rolfing.
As a chronic pain patient. We have to use many techniques because medical community will not treat pain as they should. Yes some people use illicit drugs and it kills them. Took me months to get my legs to relax and not spasm when I meditate. That’s when I stuck my face through the veil and looked over some man’s shoulder he had great mishevious smile, big blue eyes short brown curly hair. Somehow I knew it was Wayne Dyer and I had not Read any of his books. I was so happy, I fell out of my meditation.
